Studies by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) of workplaces in North America and Europe have found that the quality of communication between managers and employees significantly impacts employee engagement and turnover rates, while at the same time, more than 80% of managers in the study identified that they had not received any formal training to equip them with the tools they need for effective leadership and communication.
More and more organizations are seeing the need to improve the relationship and communication skills between managers and their employees. Managers need new ways to connect, engage and empower their teams, and competencies such as feedback, questioning, listening during 1-on-1 conversations have been identified as key development areas.
